ParticipantI think I have located the source of the recent leak on my washing machine. It was just a few drops for the last couple months but today it was too much to ignore any longer.
I spoke to the guy from the shop I bought it from (second hand w/machine shop) and he said the pipe needed to be glued.
It’s the pipe that comes from the bottom of the soap tray and leads into the drum. (see picture).

I’m pretty certain this is where the leak is, I wedged some tissue in the concrete block below, re-assembled it and then put it on a load. The tissue was soaked after. As far as I could tell there was no other source of the leak that could have reached where I put the tissue.
My question is what type of glue should I use to seal this up? I can see that some sort of glue was surrounding the area where the pipe enters but it’s perished now and the pipe can be pulled out.
Any ideas? I was thinking about using some good quality silicone sealant but I’m not sure.
Thanks.

That’s great, thanks johnmac11 🙂
I’ve ordered some.
Any advice on application? Just smear it around?

Pull the hose off the tub and smear the sealant round the flange before refitting. Long term, replacing the hose may be a better option as the replacement has a larger sealing flange and is less prone to leakage.
P/no 4812 530 48143, spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you one promptly if you wish to replace.
