whirlpool awm 6111-6k troubleshooter problem

My awm 6111 has developed a problem not covered in the troubleshooter. When I put it on it will start up as normal but will then shut off with the “door open” light flashing. It is still showing the washing time and the wash light is still on and the door is still locked. If I move the controller to drain it drains the machine and if I select spin it operatesthe spin cycle. Anyone else come up with this problem and how can I fix it.

It will either be the door interlock or the electronic control unit by the sound of it, or possibly both.

I actaully had exactly this fault on one of these Whirlpools and it was the control unit on that occasion, it could of course be something else on your machine though.

Best call an engineer to check it over and diagnose to be honest as that control pcb for this model is £165 ! which would be a costly part to replace should it not be that.

Have a look in the directories and repairs@ for someone near you.

Hi almacd,
Just had the same fault on a whirlpool today. When you start the program it will lock the door then energise the pump. It is now waiting for the drum to turn to check the motor, if it does not turn the door open light will flash with the door still locked. It will either be brushes on the motor or the motor itself.
