Hello everyone, I am a new member. I am also a woman, blonde, and senior. So I have quite a few disadvantages when taking care of machines. 😆 Please reply in words of not more than two syllables and speak very slowly, please!

I have a Whirlpool AWM820 which has given me marvellous service for about twelve years. It does get fairly light use as it is only working for me, and it has caused no problems at all till recently when I have noticed clear water collecting in the bottom of the drum a couple of days after a wash. On one occasion the water had mounted almost to the lip of the seal. The machine washes well and the clothes are spun to normal dampness ready to be aired.

I have asked friends and received some suggestions but I thought I wouldn’t mention them till I hear what you experts have to say. As I am on my own I am really terrified of making the problem worse.

check that the waste/drain pipe has not fallen down and the waste from the sink in going in to the machine(thats if the machine drain is plumbed beneath the sink). Or try switching off the hot and cold water taps leading to the washer to see if it stops filling, if it stops filling after turning taps off one of the water valves is probably faulty. if the drain hose is beneath the sink make sure it is higher than the top of the drum. if investigating inside the machine dont forget to unplug the washer 1st.

Thanks for your advice. The washing machine isn’t in the kitchen, but a lobby to the garden.

I shall watch it over the next few days and see what happens.
