this is a motor fault, these machines rotate the motor first before they fill, check the motor wiring, brushes etc

I have a similar problem with one of these machines in that you switch the machine on, the timer/module unit makes a whirring sound then nothing?

I suspect the interlock in my case as the door doesn’t lock, but from other postee’s suggesting motor brushes and stuff. I was wondering, would duff motor brushes not allow the interlock to work? 😕

…..or should I just order an new Interlock and give it a whirl first? :con:

x2 – more than likely it is the brushes or a broken wire on the motor plug.

they can break right on the actual motor plug and sometimes you have to give the wires a little tug just to see if one snaps.

Not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure Martin , but from memory worn out brushes would still allow the door interlock to “lock on” but machine won`t do anything else.

x2, brushes will cause the door to lock, but not to start.

It was the just Interlock at fault in my case. I did check things like brushes etc and they were OK. 🙂

One thing I did notice was that with the duff interlock in place only the timer made a short whirring sound then nothing – dead! After I fitted the new interlock, the moment you set it on any cycle, the first thing it does, in addition to the timer whirring, is energise the inlet valves and the motor (all done in a split second by the way, which proves the machine interrogates all components before actually starting).

Very interesting observation I thought and one to watch out for on the next Whirlpool I come across 8)
