Machine will cycle through the washing programmes OK but on spin segment nothing happens. I think the motor is OK seeing as the drum rotates back and forth during the washing as normal, but remains stationery during the spin dry part. The water is pumped away OK. The machine is still usable but, obviously, the clothes come out very wet.

A local technician has looked at the machine and decided that it’s “probably” the timer. I say “the timer” because the engineer indicated a bulky electrical part to me, and from looking on this site it seems to me to resemble a timer.

Any pointers / info much appreciated. I’m looking to learn if it’s likely to be the timer before I order a new part. I consider myself “handy” and capable of installing a replacement part but am open, too, to disuasion.

    Thanks

    Hi

My whirlpool started doing the same thing then after a few weeks the service light wold come on. In the manual there is the fix below:

Turn the machine off on the front panel and at the wall. Then turn it back on again and turn the programme control to drain/spin. Press start within fifteen seconds and see if the machine does a proper speed spin.

Worked for me… its like the control board had crashed. Could be lucky it isn’t a failed part and it will work.

Otherwise check the machine is level.

thanks v much – that procedure worked.

I inherited the machine in a house and don’t have the manual so thanks again for the tip.
