Whirlpool AWM850 Stopping

This 16 year old washing machine is stopping on the final rinse with water in. It seems to go through the whole wash heat and rinses ok but at the end of the programme there is a wash symbol on the timer where it fills with water and then stops dead. Its like its on rinse hold but it does’nt have a rinse hold function. If you click the timer on it drains and spins. There are 2 of these wash symbols on the programmer and it stops on both of them. Am i missing something simple?

It might well be a rinse hold, this machine will automatically rinse hold on easy care, delicates and the woollens program.
