ParticipantHello All,
i have a Whirlpool AWO D049 washing machine which has just developed this problem, a red light on the front panel comes up saying “Clean Filter” which i did, no blockage in filter, reset the machine and it came back on, so i took the back off, blew through the hose to the waste trap to make sure nothing was wrong there..it wasnt. i took the hose off the back of the machine which came straight from the pump, put water in the drum and no blockage there, but still the Clean Filter light came on. i unplugged the program module and plugged back in all the plugs to make sure it wasnt a loose connection, no problems…then after filling the drum again with water and emptying it the light stayed off….now this has happened a few times since but rather than taking it to bits again, i just filled the drum with water and it seems to have cleared itself..most times…
so my question is, is this a new program module or is there a switch of some sort on the pump which is locking out and causing the program not to switch over…the machine is only 18mths old so i not keen on spending £’s on it just yet!
thanks in advance for your help..

Hi
Have you tried the pressure switch, if this is blocked the machine will think it is not draining the water out. So it thinks the pump filter is blocked :rolls: !
If not could be a PCB problem, but hopefully not 😕 .
Hope this is some help to you
😉

Remove the top of the washer and the pressure switch is located at the front of the tank (outer drum) at the top. Should look like a little plastic bottle with a black rubber pipe on!

Off that large curly black hose there is a thin black hose, not curly, straight across from your red arrow, that leads to the pressure switch, the rectangular bottle at the rear of the machine (just next to the fill valves). If the thinner hose has a blockage that should be the problem! 🙂
Also make sure the large black curly hose is clean as well!

thanks, blew down through the small hose and it seemed clear, bubbling noise….took big black hose off as well, poured water down it and cleaned it with finger, machine is on test now so fingers crossed…
if it works thanks you very much for your help….if not i will post back when it goes wrong again……Thanks

thats not the pressure switch, its a breather hose
the whirlpools have the pressure switch at the front, usually above the door seal
oliver, what DO you do for a living please?

If you read my profile you will find out a bit about me!! 😆
As for the pressure switch problem I can only advise because the self same thing happened to friend of mine. I had a look and found the pressure switch was full of s***!! Turns out i was right and the washer was repaired, I am trying to mislead nobody.
The reason I cannot be right 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time is I am a DIY washer repairer as when something goes wrong in this house money is very tight so have no choice but to do things myself. Also my father is the same always repairing things himself, he gave me a good grounding. Just thought I would give some friendly help to someone who needs it!! 😀
I have kept my Mums 8 year old Siltal running and even serviced the pump the other day, also keep my 15 year old Bosch running! 🙂
Incedentally what do you do for a living and have you ever made a mistake ❓ I’m not trying to be offencive here!!
All the best
😉

i think you will find that it was probably the pressure vessel that was full of s*** and not the pressure switch which is the electrical switch near the top of the machine way up out of the water level.

Participantand he could tell the difference between a pressure vessel and a breather hose
for reference im an engineer, 21 years in the job
i asked, because your giving out what is in essence useless information
potentially dangerous too
please, will everyone remember to remove the plug at all times when investigating

Helo 75 – very funny :rolls:
Oh well if you are an engineer we will put you to good use then!!
Is there anywhere I could get a pump for a Siltal BI 1000X H/C, I have got the old one going but may need a new one in the future, could last 5 days could last 5 years who knows! I have tried local washer shops etc, no body has heard of Siltal, no doubt you have! 🙂
Just cleaned the machine with Affresh washing machine cleaner and seems to have helped the pump, very good stuff highly recommended 😀 .
Thanks in advance
😉
