ParticipantHi. Customer already had someone look at this, i’m going tomorrow. She said not spinning properly, advised about out of balance load etc. Other guy couldn’t find anything. Any Whirlpool guys or gals shed any light on this? 🙂

Had an AWOD5* something the other day which would start to spin but give up before it got up to speed. Everything looked fine and there was no blackening of the commutator. Still, I knew it had had a hard life so I went for the brushes and sure enough they were down. Were Ceset (Zanussi version).

Cheers Mike. Just going to make my way there now. Got the CESET’s on board anyway.
Thanks for the reply.October 14, 2011 at 9:15 am #361347Micky 32

Check the pressure bottle isn’t clogged, they’re prone to this.

Cheers Mickey 32. I’ve been today and must admit I haven’t checked the pressure chamber. It looks like the type moulded into the outer drum. It didn’t throw any time out errors just would keep restarting the distribute process. Do you know if these throw an error if the pressure switch doesn’t reset? It’s only a year old, advised customer to have a word with Whirlpool, looked like pcb fault.

That was exactly what the one I had was doing. If not a brush sticking, maybe it’s something to do with a poor connection somewhere in the motor circuit.

Update on this one. Rang customer and went and had another look. Dismantled front removed pressure pipe from pressure switch, blew down pipe, clean as a whistle. Put back together after checking motor wiring again, tried empty on rinse, tried empty on spin all worked fine. Asked customer for a few towels, tried it with a load in, all worked fine.
Customer is now going to use it for a week and let me know how they get on. I’m now beginning to think this machine may have had an air lock. It has a clean filter light which I think should have illuminated if the pressure switch was held in the full position after a time out period. If the pressure switch kept re-setting and therefore reset the pcb timer it may just act as if there was, for example, a suds lock. There are a couple of thin low voltage wires on the pressure switch, so dont know if this is a frequency also type pressure switch. Will let you know if it fails again 🙂April 23, 2013 at 12:38 pm #361351twicknix

Just attended to same make and model today with lack of spin. It took a while to distribute but did get up to speed.
How can pressure chamber be the culprit? Is it liquid detergent causing this?
