Participanthello everyone!
this dryer was initially operating but with no heat. one toc was replaced as o/c, still no heat, the problem now is:
clean filter light = flashing
empty bottle light = flashing
clean heat exchanger light = flashing
all three lights flashing in unison
drying light = constant on
end of cycle light = constant on
as the dryer has been used for about 8 hours IN TOTAL, i am baffled?
continuity on: heater, all tocs, no continuity on bottom front thermostat.any help gratefully appreciated before it goes to the great dryer place in the sky.
kind regards
nicklaus

Bottom front stat should be normally closed.

hi penguin 45, many thanks for your swift response, would an o/c exhaust thermo cause this problem? obviously if this is the fault i can order one from here (the least i can do). if i can repair this i will give it to someone who needs one (free) as i have a dryer already.
once again thanks for your help.nicklaus

If the problem is still no heat, yes it would. Front stat always fails if there are exhaust problems; it should cycle in the normal course of use.
If it’s only run 8 hours, is not still under warranty?

hi again, unfortunately no warranty on this as it was bought by my nephew from an auction, it is not running at all as i can’t get past the flashing lights scenario, if it cannot be repaired i’ll just have to bin it which would be a shame as everything is new, as i said, everything appears to have continuity and the only problem i can think of is that my nephew may have taken the heater unit apart (and not told me coz i’ll shout at him) and put the wires back in the wrong place, i have traced the wires from the tocs to plugs and heater and it seems like there in the right place? motor is o.k, checked both pcbs (as far as is possible) and can’t find any obvious faults, checked door switch micro and plug, capacitor, and everything else, i think.
your help really is appreciated on this.
regards

DDSDDS, the front part that you are referring to is sold as an NTC thermistor from Whirlpool….although I believe from memory it is actually a simple exhaust thermostat, however the flashing lights on the display are not related to this part.
The machine that I had with the flashing lights had a faulty NTC sensor on the heater (the middle one of the 3) but as you probably know, the sensor is not available as a spare item on its own.
With the dryer that I had when the front stat and heater unit replaced the lights would stop flashing and the machine would run but still no heat was produced.
Im not sure if anyone has any other information but I wouldn’t be surprised if the 6th sense logic board is faulty?November 3, 2010 at 12:00 pm #269110DDSDDS
