ParticipantCan anyone help?
I have a Whirlpool AWZ 8812 6th Sense condensor tumble dryer which has just start to develop a fault of steam escaping from the door and very little water collected in the container.
Ive confirmed the heater thermostats, heater and front blower stat readings as follows;
heater thermostats – 0.0 – 0.1 ohms
heater – 26.9 ohms
front blower stat – 0.0 – 0.1 ohmsIve cleaned everything out (not that it was dirty but things still seem to be the same.
Can anyone suggest a next point of call?
Thanks and regards, Steve

Hi
A known culprit is the “donut” seal which seals the top half of the cover around the fan at the front.
Im afraid its a drum out, but not too bad of a job.Greg

HI Greg,
Thanks for the advise, is it best to attack the drum from the rear?
The case is currently open on the utility floor; if I take the thermostat/heater cables away I guess I can simply unbolt the drum back cover, will this allow the drum to be removed or is there more operations? Do you know a part number for the seal or do spares outlets simply call them “donut” seals?
Thanks again.

Hi
All done from the rear.
Do you have the 12 digit NC number, usually below a barcode, just so we can identify exactly 😀 as there are a fair few with that model number.Greg

Hi Greg,
I’ll grab the number tonight (Monday) and post.
just out of interest I noticed last night that the water container is also not filling – is this due to the steam escaping from the door or do you think there could be something more sinister?Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve
I would have thought that the bottle should fill a bit even if the seal has snapped.
Just to clarify, the seal seals the fan manifold at the front not around the fan itself.Greg

Hi Greg,
Yes in answer to your question a small amount of water can be collected, Ive verified this by removal of the filling pipe and directed into an empty water bottle.
Going back to my model code the machine is a AWZ 8812/3 and the service code is 8575 881 15130, there is also another number (07 0346 503139) but not sure if this is of use?
I’ll try to investigate the fan tonight; do the seals perish or could the seal simply have come away?
Thanks again,
Steve

Hi Greg,
Ive looked through the trangular space between the drum and the rear fan and can clearly see the front seal has “snapped” with part of it sticking up.
I posted the model number and serial code, can you advise on the part number of the seal that I need? Ive had a quick search and think its 481246688523 but wanted to clarify?Regards
Steve

Just a quick update…..
Dognut seal arrived, back off, drum out, side panel removed and a bit of jiggery of the fan housing and the seal is now fitted.
Old seal type is extruded foam, cut and glued – new seal is moulded.Machine now fully working and back in operation.
Many thanks for the help.
