Our Whirlpool AWZ3518 dryer is starting to play up. two problems (which may be related?) 1st, after starting a cycle, a few minutes in, the “clean filter” light will come on. If you then open the door and look the filter, it is hardly got any lint on it at all. If you clean the filter and restart it, then th same thing happens (in fact, if you just open the door and then close it and restart, the same thing happens!). I wonder if there is a sensor some where that detects if the filter is full? How does this work, does anyone know?

The other issue was that it was taking a long time to dry clothes. So I hoovered everywhere (the inside of the hose, the vent hole through the wall, even inside the machine behind the casing). The drying time improved after this, but occasionally, the cycle will finish, and there will be approximately 8 beeps, a short gap then another 8 or so. This isn’t the buzzer feature, so wondered what might be going on here?

Many thanks in advance for anyone’s help!

    cheers,

    Nick

You, inadvertently perhaps, cured the first problem by clearing the vent hose and outside vent I would guess. There must have been an airflow problem to trigger the filter warning light.

The beeps at the end?…Perfectly normal, it’s telling you it has done it’s job, time to take out the clothes and switch it off.

Hi, thanks for the reply. perhaps I wasn’t clear in my original post, the light still comes on, even though I did (in my opinion!) a thorough clean.

As for the beeping, I’ve not heard it before. I’m fairly certain it’s not the buzzer at the end of the cycle, as we’ve not pressed the button to activate the buzzer.

    cheers,

    Nick
