I have a Whirlpool Generation 2000+ G2P DW1 that has developed the following fault over the last few days. The program is selected, the door closed, machine makes a draining noise, starts beeping and when the door is opened the ground floor sockets trip in the fuse box. The fuse will not reset until the washer is isolated. When I first looked there was a damp patch under the washer. I have checked the wall socket and plug for connections and they are OK. Any first aid I can try before calling in the man.

Not really, you’ve done all the sensible stuff.

There is obviously a leak or overfill situation which will need investigation, and you’ve correctly narrowed it down to being the appliance itself 😉

You could probably assist the engineer before he comes by gently tipping the appliance back (with the power off) at 45o…towels down to mop the resulting water spillage on the floor, then at least it may dry out sufficiently for him to be able to run it to find the fault more easily.
