ParticipantWhirlpool Condensor dryer AWZ650 overheating.
The dryer is almost baking the clothing (clothing too hot to hold when taken from the machine) – this is regardless of the “Gentle” but being used or not.
The machine does not cut-out it continues running fine, just very hot.I have checked for spares and noticed there are a couple of thermostats on this machine – could these be faulty or the elements?

Very unlikely to be a thermostat problem, but they would need checking just in case? More likely is a fan circulation/air flow blockage and the first question in that regard is does the water tank fill with water during drying? Also, are the condenser channels blocked with fluff?

Thanks for such a quick reply (early bird)
Yes – before each load , the tank is emptied (it does fill with water) and the filter (inside below the door opening) is cleaned.
With the filter removed that small amount of ducting that can be seen is clear.September 12, 2005 at 8:10 am #147173Martin

I referred to the condenser ‘Heat Exchanger’ unit adjacent to the water tank (the one with the suitcase type handle for ease of removal). Is that clean and clear?
If the answer is yes, then perhaps the thermostats may need checking. A local independent engineer could also check over the whole machine for you, inspect the blower fans, belt etc etc. Try our Repairs@ for one in your area 🙂

The heat exchanger was clean and there is good airflow through the unit.

Ian33,
In that case a little professional ‘TLC’ is called for (see link in my previous post) 🙂
