There is obviously a slight leak, not enough to lift the float switch but base is wet through and rusted. There is a small connector block at the front with two black wires in either side, it is plugged into the baseplate. This is damp and causing the tripping.

It is difficult to pin down the area of the leak. I suspect it may be coming from the seal above the sump.

I have marked the area I suspect on this picture. Is this an area that is likely to cause this fault?

    Hi Jim,

The fix for the connector block at the front of the base is simple, cut it out, crimp the wires and tie the two wires up with the rest of the harness at the front of the sump. I wonder who was the genius that thought of putting this connector on the base plate.

I have seen leaks from the sump but not very common, if it is coming from the top of the sump I would just drop it and clean the seal and refit as I have never changed a sump seal because of a leak. Looking at your picture I see that the sieve valve loooks fairly clean, when you get a slight leak from the sump this valve is normaly covered in muck and can be the source of earth leakage.

Hi John, thanks for reply. If by the sieve valve you mean the one with the orange solenoid, that does show signs of considerable water ingress.

It appears as though the seal is NLA anyhow so I will have to attempt a reseal.

    Jim.
