Whirlpool dishwasher ADG7540 problem

Our dishwasher has stopped heating up.
We first noticed there was a problem when it started failing to complete a full cycle and it beeped continuously whenever it got to the rinse stage. We’ve checked the drainage and cleaned everything, and now it seems to be completing washes again. However, now, no matter what cycle we put it on the water is completely cold.
Can you help with this problem? Would it be easy for us to fix, and will it be prohibitively expensive?

Was the start lamp flashing? If so, what was the pattern?

My husband said that it did 6 flashes when it was doing the continuous beeps. That’s why we checked the inlet pipe and drainage pipes and cleaned everything.

It doesn’t seem to be flashing now though. From what we’ve gleaned on the internet it seems like we should probably run a test cycle to confirm exactly what the problem is, but none of the info we’ve got tells us how.

What do you reckon?

That’s the time out fill error. It’s not detecting water coming in, in the time allowed. Check water is on, fill hose is not kinked, trapped, nipped. Possible that valve has failed. If there is water in the machine, the water level sensor may not be working, though this would normally bring up different codes.

Power off if you plan to investigate this yourself.

where is the water level sensor? and how would I investigate it myself? do we have to take the machine apart, or is it easily accessible from inside?

You may ultimately need to do some dismantling, but check the obvious first – does it fill?

The first action on any programme is that the drain pump will run for about a minute, then it stops and you should hear water running into the machine. If it fills correctly, the centre indentation of the tub should be full of water.
