Whirlpool dishwasher ADP 4610 – 6 flashes after starting

Good morning,

(I have tried a search for ADP – 6 flashes, with no result)

I would be very grateful for some advice please.
We have returned from holiday and are using the dishwasher for the first time for several weeks. It was working fine before we went away.
The Whirlpool ADP 4610 is 2 years and 3 months old.

When I start the wash cycle (or the pre-rinse cycle), the machine appears to start, then after less than one minute the programme stops and the start button starts flashing. Each sequence of flashes is six flashes, pause, then another six and so on. It stops when I switch off the power button.

The handbook offers no suggestions for error codes.

Can someone please tell me what might be the problem?

We have checked the door is properly shut and have cleaned the filters. Water appears to be flowing in to the machine.

Additional info: I discovered by a Google search that I could run a diagnostic cycle. I did that and the machine stopped again after a few minutes and is now flashing 7 times.
