The salt required light is always on, even when the salt has been topped up. We had the identical fault about 18 months ago and paid £95 for the repair man to visit. His diagnosis/repair was “un-jammed float in salt pot”. I guess 18 months is too long to expect him to come out again at no further cost to me.
But given that this may appear to be a returning mechanical fault I wonder if this is something I can sort it out (ie un-jam it) myself.
If I take off the salt pot lid and poke my finger down I can feel what feels to be a fairly solid plastic tube about the size of one of those tubes of ‘Steradent’ false teeth cleaning tablets down the side of the chamber. I cannot feel the bottom of this tube as it is longer than my finger can reach. This ‘tube’ thingy is strongly held in position so I suspect this is not the float itself.
Any ideas as to how to identify the float and free up this component would be very welcome indeed. Thank you.
