Sorry about CAPS – I’m not shouting – this is a long tale – fundamentals follow:

BOTTOM (FAN ASSISTED) OVEN: SET TEMPERATURE TO, SAY, 220 TO START BREAD & IT WILL START TO HEAT, THEN CLICK & REVERT TO 160 WITH INTERIOR LIGHT FLASHING. IF COOKING CONTINUES, TEMPERATURE REMAINS UNSTABLE – ALWAYS REVERTING TO 160. THIS HAS GOT WORSE & NOW WHEN TRYING TO SET TEMP, THE DISPLAY CLICKS & SWITCHES BETWEEN CLOCK, TIMER & OVEN TEMP. TOP OVEN NOT AFFECTED BUT SEEMS COOLER THAN IT SHOULD BE.
WHIRLPOOL ENGINEER HAS BEEN TWICE BUT THE OVEN BEHAVED PERFECTLY! HE SAID IT MIGHT EVENTUALLY NEED A ‘CONTROL BOARD’ – I THINK THAT’S THE RIGHT TERM.

I HAVE FOUND PART ON THIS SITE:
481921478693 – Whirlpool, Bauknecht, Ignis Control Switch PCB
DON’T WANT TO PAY HIS CALL OUT CHARGE AGAIN – COULD THIS PART BE FITTED BY AN INTELLIGENT LAY PERSON / GENERAL ELECTRICIAN? OR DOES IT REALLY NEED THE WHIRLPOOL MAN – IT’S JUST SHORT OF £100 CALL OUT CHARGE . . . . OR IS THE ANSWER A NEW OVEN – DON’T WANT TO DO THIS . . . LANDFILL & ALL THAT.
    HOPE YOU CAN HELP.

Interesting. I looked up that part on another site and it comes up as obsolete. If unsure about how to do the job you could do a trial run by removing and re-fitting the existing one. The main thing with these jobs is to make a sketch of where any wiring goes before you disconnect anything. Often multi pin plugs will only go on the correct way but this is not always the case.
