The main (lower) oven on our Whirlpool has stopped working, giving the error “F03” on the lcd display. The upper oven/grill works without problems though.
Model is AKZ161/IX/01
Service number 858516115061
Serial number 140241010041
I’ve had a Google and it seems like F03 in Whirlpool speak is “Oven Temperature Sensor” fault – http://www.repairclinic.com/0078.asp
Can anyone confirm this form me, or if there are related parts (like a fuse?) that could also cause the problem. I’ve read the horror stories about having to replace the whole control pcu as well.
According to this page – http://www.applianceaid.com/oven_temp_sensors_help.html – I should be able to test the temp sensor to see if it is faulty or not, again, do these values seem reasonable (at room temp) or is there a Whirlpool specific figure(s) to check.
I’ve checked for an online parts supplier and the cheapest I found was Partsmaster at 41.75 for the temp sensor: http://www.partmaster.co.uk/cgi-bin/pro … 7871:78996
I don’t mind spending the cash if it is the right part, so just really need some guidance to confirm what I (think!) I found out so far. Is there anything else (and location!) that I can check before I start ordering parts and stripping the oven down?
I did call out an engineer, using the UKW recommended links, but he didn’t know what F03 meant and just tried a replacement element without any luck. He wasn’t familiar with Whirlpool, so suggested I try someone else who was.
