ParticipantHi – I have a Whirlpool DWF 415 dishwasher from Ikea. It’s about 4 years old and has started to make a stuttering/machine gun noise, as if the pump is disconnecting and re-connecting 3 -4 times a second. I checked the pumps and all seems OK. I also removed the PCB and cleaned all the contacts. This worked OK for a while, but it has started to happen again.
This time I have noticed it only happens towards the end of the wash cycle (on number 3) and if I listen to the PCB, there is a faint click prior to this happening.
As a new PCB is £100, I want to be sure this is the faulty item. Does anyone know what this can be? Should I change out any sensors first?
Thanks
Guy

Is the filter clean and also clean the black plastic grill on the side of the sump once the fliter is removed. If this is blocked or restricted you get those exact symptoms.

Hi – Thanks for the advise. There are no blocks on the filters, but I did clean these again and the fault still exists.
The fault definitely happens during the latter part of the cycle on programme 3. This seems to be when the heater element is hot, the power to the pump seems to be interupted rapidly.

I reckon it’s going to be an Askoll pump. It makes this noise when the magnet cracks and gets worse as the wash goes on.
You’ll have to check the wash motor/pump on your machine, if it’s Askoll then it’s a near certainty it needs replacing.
Does it have a little trouble starting the wash? a little stutter?DP

The dishwasher starts OK and all the pumps run without issues if tested independantly. I will check again.
Thanks
