Im getting an error code on my machine saying f08 which according to a code thing on here indicates: Heating element open circuit
Check: Water heating element, relay, wiring

is it likely that the element needs replacing ?

    The model is Whirlpool AWOD6527

So it is likely to be the heater element thats gone then from that error code?
im not sure how to check the relay etc, but a mulitimeter can be used on the element

Error codes are for guidance only, they give a strong indication of where the fault could (but not necessarily does) lie.

The relay forms part of the main PCB so with your multimeter check both the heater AND the wiring to and from the PCB. Inspect the PCB for any burnt tracks while you’re at it!
