ParticipantThe oven won’t heat up today although it was fine yesterday. Fan is working. Grill is OK. I’ve checked the element which doesn’t appear to be damaged. Could this be the problem even though it looks OK?

Potboiler on fan oven elements HERE. Only a resistance check will tell you for certain whether or not the element has failed.
Model number is incorrect – please post the 12 digit number starting with “8” and we’ll be able to identify which element may be required.

Thanks for your reply. The no. on the plate inside the door is 858545115071. Today the control panel isn’t working either! The display says STOP and the middle button which confirms selection won’t push in, so I can’t use the grill either. Help!!
Many thanks.

Hi Val,
Are there any other numbers on this machine as neither the model or the 12NC numbers are being recognised and, are they off the rating plate?
I any event, it’s an electronically controlled oven and it sounds awfully like you could have a problem with the control card which, isn’t cheap. 🙁

Found it, looks like an Ikea special.
If the centre button wont push in it will stop you from setting the clock and the display will always show stop, part number for button switch is 481241029352
If it needs the fan oven element the part number is 481225998405.HTH

Thank you K and John for your replies. Sorry for not giving you all the necessary information. Have found a leaflet which came with the oven. Its a Whirlpool FCSM6, model no. AKZ451/1X/01. It is just 4 years old. The builder installed it new with all the other appliances when the house was built.
I think I’ll try replacing the button switch first, if you can tell me how easy it is to do! If I have to replace the control card I think it might be a new oven.
Thanks again.

Hi John
Me again! I’ve had a look at the digital display. The plastic part, which holds the button which you actually push, is broken so the electronic button isn’t actually being pushed 😕 in. Is the part no. you gave me for this or is it for the electronic button? Hope that makes sense.
Best wishes

Parts arrived in double quick time. Many thanks.
One small problem. How do I get the locking ring off the new push button. I don’t want to force it in case it breaks.
