Whirlpool (for Ikea) DWF 416W

We have a Whirlpool (for Ikea) DWF 416W dishwasher that is no longer starting. The on off switches work and the appropriate LEDs light but the program select button no longer toggles through the options and the start button will not light, and so the machine does not run.

Is there anyone who can suggest what the fault might be and if there is anything I can do to troubleshoot this problem.

The lights or one of them should flash in a sequence, x flashes – pause – x flashes etc.

If you keep an eye on that it should help indicate a fault code. 🙂

Thanks for the reply Dave,
I discovered last night 💡 that if I held the start button down when turning on and off, I lodged the start button in the on position (LED lights up). Now the machine works fine when the door is closed but we can’t change cycle. There are no flashes so no indication of an obvious problem. I guess that the electronics are not working properly.

Intriguingly, our oven stopped working properly yesterday as well. It turned on but would not heat up. I found that the child safety lock was on. This was not a function I was aware of so I am confused how that may have come on. It requires a specific set of key holds so I doubt if it was put on by mistake. This made me wonder whether a power surge could have disrupted the electronics of these two items. time to start a conspiracy theory I think 😉
