    Re: Whirlpool Freezer Compressor

    Hi George

Do you know the possible reason for the compressor to have failed.

Is the compressor seized and hot or is it tripping the mains.

Is the compressor making a noise is the system blocked or has the system lost the gas, or is the compressor not pumping.

It is not just fitting a compressor you need to be able to regas and fault find.

If the system has been opened and not resealed for more than 1 hour you will now have moisture in the system and run the risk of a blockage.

If you replace a compressor you need to keep the system open for the shortest time possible and replace the filter/dryer
    as well.

R600a compressors also run on a flameable gas.

Most compressors of the correct H/P will fit and can be obtained from the normal trade spares suppliers.

To carry out repaires to refridgeration you should now hold the C&G 2079 or CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY equivelent but as R600a has no cfc’s this has still not been made clear if you have to hold the certificates to work on it.

When I took mine the colledge said it was required to be able to handle any refridgerants as you need to be able to identify refridgerants by pressure and temperature and not rely on labels.

    Re: Whirlpool Freezer Compressor

    Hi Bob…

Someone has requested a purchase of one.

The only note to me is the request for a ‘New Motor’ and as far as I am concerned they are referring to the compressor. They just say it has a fault.

I would love to be able to do them myself… but as yet I do not have the required skills.
