whirlpool fride (ART 417/G) stat

Hi – I have a whirlpool fridge with a faulty stat (when bypassed the compressor comes on and the fridge cools down nicely).

Fridge is art 417/g (service 856441715001)…. Wet wall larder fridge. The existing stat (from new) is marked “whirl r290, a13 0435 d480” and has a tube about 75cm (though whirlpool say the stat it should have is a13 0434-030 ???)…

We are looking to refit kitchen in a couple of month and was hoping to keep current fridge running just until then…
So, can I replace stat with any cheaper generic eg a vxo? (understand I may have to coil tube as most seem longer than original 75cm)… or do I have to shell out £35 for whatever whirlpool say it should be?

VXO should do it, you’ll just need to coil the phial in the housing or somewhere and make sure the tip is where the original one was.

But, should be okay.
