Hello,
I have just purchased a used Whirlpool fridge freezer (American style).
I think the model is SB 540W. 12nc code is 858615115001.
Having just plumbed in the water feed I have a problem. 🙁 When pressing the water dispenser lever the water does not come out as it should. Instead it flows out of a pipe inside the actual main fridge compartment. There are two white plastic pipes inside the fridge with nothing connected on the ends of them (ends cut at 45 degrees).
Does anyone know what the problem is likely to be? Should there be something attached to these pipes?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
P.s. I have searched the forum and didn’t manage to find any results so I hope I am not wasting your time.
Should I have a water reservoir attached to the two pipes I mentioned above?
The pipes stick up with the ends behind a curved plastic cover, but behind this cover there is just a cable tie attached to the back of the fridge and nothing else!
MOST AMERICAN TYPE FRIDGE FREEZERS HAVE A PRE-COOLING WATER TANK IN THE FRIDGE TO CHILL THE WATER.
SOME JUST HAVE A COIL OF PLASTIC PIPE IN THE FRIDGE TO PRE-COOL THE WATER.
I THINK ON YOUR MODEL IT SHOULD HAVE A TANK FITTED BUT THIS SOUNDS IF IT IS MISSING.
THE PRE-COOLING TANKS CAN BE EXPENSIVE SO YOU CAN TRY TO PURCHASE SOME PLASTIC PIPE OF THE SAME SIZE AND ROLL INTO A COIL AND HOLD IT TOGETHER WITH CABLE TIES
YOU CAN JOIN THE PIPES TOGETHER WITH PUSH FIT JOHN GUEST FITTINGS.
IF YOU CAN FIND A LOCAL BREWERY PUB ENGINEER THEY USE THE SAME SIZE PIPE IF NOT YOU CAN TRY THE WHITEGOODS SHOP ON THIS SITE.
