    Hi all,

First of all I stumbled across this website while looking for a solution to my problem and thanks for the wealth of knowledge.

I have read the big 55 page thread about the rear PCB board.

I have a whirlpool American fridge/freezer 20RU-D3J service number 8586 441 15000. We brought this fridge/freezer 12/1/09 and after a short while it began to develop a fault (which I can not remember what the symptoms were), but as it was still under warranty we arranged an engineer to come and fix it on the 25/8/09. He came in and replaced the rear PCB board and the front user interface board and left both parts behind with me explaining that one of them was faulty but it was just as easy to replace both. Since then we have had no problems until just before Christmas and the fridge started to click constantly. So I unplugged it and waited a few minutes and plugged it back in again and went through the self diagnostic procedure which the engineer had shown me back in 09. After running the diagnostic it was flashing 02 which indicates the air diffuser which I changed for a new one. But did not solve the problem a about 24 hours later the clicking came back. So I looked for where the clicking was coming from and worked out it was coming from the rear PCB board relays. So I brought a new rear PCB board and fitted that thinking this would solve the problem. But about 24-48 hours later the problem came back. I then found a different website and it states that you should wait about 2.50 minutes for the code 02 to stop and it then continues fault finding down to 00. So I ran the diagnostic test again and waited and it started doing the count down from 07 again until it got to 02 and flashed for about 3 minutes and then as soon as it continued it then flashed up 09 and then 12 flashed for a few seconds and then it went to 00 and stayed at 00 for the full hour before it exited the diagnostic mode automatically. I have a video of the fridge/freezer doing the diagnostic test. The thing is the fridge/freezer is still working but I want to solve the problem. The fridge is set at 3 degrees and I have a fridge thermometer in the fridge and it is reading 3-4 degrees when the fridge door has been left closed for a little while. When the door is open for a couple of minutes then the thermometer creeps up to about 9-10 degrees but once the door is shut it cools down again. The freezer is the same with the thermometer it is showing -20 and the freezer is set to -18. So the fridge/freezer does seem to be working correctly apart from the clicking and once it has started to click it does not stop until it is unplugged, and then runs for about 24 hours or so before it starts clicking again from the rear PCB Omron relays.

I do keep the dirt and fluff blown out from underneath once/twice a year using a hairdryer on cold setting.

Has anyone come across this problem and fixed it?

    Kind Regards

    Michael
