Whirlpool FRSS2VAF20/0 Display Flashes when doors open

Hi There,

I have a Whirlpool FRSS2VAF20/0. WHen I open either fridge or freezer door the display flashes and there is an audible clicking noise. When the doors close the normal display resumes.

I have replaced the capacitors on the main control board but no improvement.

I was wondering if the extra power required to switch the lights on might effect the regulator on the control board and drop the voltage – hence make the front-panel flash ?

Any thoughts ?

The operative word his is “might”
and yes it might so unless you try it you wont know. if its the std small chips they are cheap so its a cheap experiment.
there should also be a series fusible resistor into the board, measure it in case its gone up in value first
