BSO801 WH thermostat is fine on the top element, so i guess that rules out the that.

Is our “guest” the same person as cracker666 ?

If the base element wasn’t working the oven would hardly heat at all to be honest as the upper element is only using the outer part to heat while in “oven” mode, the inner is the grill heater.

Does the red indicator light ever go out when the oven is on, or does the red light only come on when the thermostat is turned more than a few degress past “off” ?

Worn hinges can cause this as well, does the door “snap” shut as it reaches it’s final position ?

    yeap guest was cracker666,
I could touch the base and it was cool, the grill element works in oven mode.
Yes the thermostat light dos go out when oven is on.
Yes the door snaps shut as it reaches it final position.
Shouldve bought a better oven me thinks.

This is confusing, if it’s cool the base element isn’t working at all, but as this is the main source of heat the oven (in theory at least) would never get hot enough to make the thermostat switch off :con:

It’s not unheard of, and considering you say it’s been like it from new that the oven may be wired incorrectly, engineer time to check perhaps ?

Try Repairs@ if you need one 😀
