I have a Whirlpool AKP 511 hob which we bought with the house when we moved two months ago. It’s been working fine until today, when the burner ignition unit has started sparking independantly every two or three minutes. It still works OK, but can I do anything to stop it sparking of its own accord? Do you have a helpline number for Whirlpool?
I’d be very grateful for a message, as I’m not sure it’s safe like this. Obviously I’ve turned it off at the socket for now.
While I’m at it, the previous owner took the grill pan; any ideas where I can get one to fit?
Hope to here from you soon.

    Re: whirlpool hob

    Hi Paddy.

The model AKP511 is the oven only, the hob has a seperate model which will be on the underside. It sounds to me as if some “spillage” has got in to the generator, if you leave it powered off for a few days it hopefully will dry out and be fine.

The oven grill pan is made up of three parts:

    Main pan 481241838124 at £39.97
    Pan griddle 481945819538 at £13.49
    Pan handle 481939548003 at £10.11

You could probably get a universal one to sit on one of the shelves though for a lot less 😉

I can order for you, I’ll reply to your email sent to spares@ shortly 🙂

    Dave.

Thanks, Dave, it’s dried out now and is working fine. Next time I’ll clean it less vigorously. Will have a chat with the Boss about the grill pan, and get back to you.
