friend moved into a flat with a whirlpool hob that the hob edges are getting very hot when solid plates are on .the sides are reaching over 100 deg c after plates are on for 5 mins .is this normal or could there be something causing this to be too hot to touch. they have brushed up against the hob a couple of times and almost burnt their hand or arm
sorry never had it out to get a number . was more a query as to whether this was normal or not for it to get so hot ? i can go back and get a number later on today but they are thinking of just replacing the hob .
Oh OK. The hobs with solid plates do tend to transfer a good deal of their heat through conduction across the entire metallic area. Worse are the stainless steel hobs rather than the enamelled.
