I have a Whirlpool fridge freezer, model number S20D RSS33, with a faulty ice maker.
I need some help with troubleshooting. I have removed the unit and tested the motor, so know that it works, done the optics test, flashing red light which goes continuous upon closing the flap but am at a loss as to what to try next.

Would help if you stated what has occurred that makes you believe it’s faulty.

Ice maker is not making ice, as I said, I have removed it and tested the motor, which works, and performed the optical test, flashing led, which goes solid, now at a loss as to what to try next.

Just had one of these in bits .
it could be either water supply to the ice maker or the dreaded relays and caps on the main board ?
Any other symptoms like spluttering water from the water dispenser ?
The IR unit has been reported on the net as a possible cause. Its on the left top of the freezer ( with the flappy door ) . This unit is a receiver of some description and is accessed removing the three screws .

By not making ice. You mean their is no water entering the tray or the water is not freezing.

As much info as possible please, personal opinion is a waste of breath.

You wouldn’t march into your Dr’s, state I don’t feel well and expect a complete diagnosis from that, or maybe you would, which isn’t going to help you.

Hi Mark, water dispenser works fine, circuit boards were replaced several years ago after the usual click click click.
I also replaced the optics, both panels many years ago, so they should be good, wondering if it may be the inlet solenoid.
