    Hi,

I’ve got a problem with this machine. It goes through the programme according to the customer, without heating.
It doesnt flash any error codes. The customer has previously, due to another engineers advice, replaced the module in the facia earlier in the week, but it has not cured it.

I’ve checked all the obvious, heater, broken wires, but to no avail. It doesnt have a relay that i can see, so its not that.

I’m thinking that it could be the thermistor, its the only thing left.
Does anybody have any advice and if it is the termistor does anybody have the part number.

    Thanks for your help guys

    Nick

Probably wouldn’t apply to your machine but I found an intermittent thermostat (not thermistor) on a 10 y. o. whirlpool dw the other day.
    Gave same symptom.

Yeah, i’ve had quite a few dodgy stats on the old type dishwasher, was quite a common fault. I wish these new machines used them instead of the thermistor, easy fault to trace.

    Hiya,
I would have said that it was a software problem with the module but as it’s been replaced it’s a puzzler.
The norm for the Dolphin range is, no error code is a faulty module.
Never come across one with a faulty thermistor that would run through the whole program, but there’s always a first.
Try running the diagnostics on it and see if it heats.

Thanks for the reply Brian, how do i set the diagnostic on this model. I used to have the info but cant find it. I was going to try that.

It’s in the error codes section, page 2, along with the error codes.
Basically, set the machine to the first (rinse) program, switch off, press and hold the start button and switch back on. There will be a beep and the start light will start flashing, release the start button, press start once and close the door. It should then run through the test program. If memory serves me right it takes about 15 minutes or thereabouts. If it refuses to go into the test mode you’ll need to try replacing the NTC.
If there’s any errors it should stop and flash the code.
If my memory is working the heater relay is on the module and it’s the two wires with the spade terminals that go to the heater. You can test the wiring, the toc and heater in one go. (TOC is built into the heater). You can also meter the NTC from the module end, again testing the wiring at the same time.
Hope this helps, I’ve probably got some paperwork on Whirlpool dishwashers in the van but can’t remember offhand which models it covers.

Brilliant, thanks for all that info Brian. I’ll have a go in the next couple of days and post back the results.

    Thanks again mate.

    Brian

I have yet to ever run a test programme 😳
Not that I wouldn’t love to it’s just that I’ve not until now had access to the info. (ta,UKW).

I do wonder how I’m going to spend those 15 mins. With some customers there’d be no problem but with new ones who have not learned to trust me yet and might be standing over me with a stopwatch….

Suppose it’s best to request they bring in a nice comfortable armchair and the tea and jaffa cakes nicely arranged on the best china, whilst I carry out this initial very important and highly skilled diagnostic work. 🙂

I think I might find it rather boring though, like waiting for a new Servis washing machine to get into a spin.

If any research and development bods are out there listening, please, please bring back the manual timer.

Just out of interest can anybody tell me the part number for the thermistor on this machine. My local wholesaler is having trouble recognising it over the phone. Not surprising really, they usually have trouble recognising hotpoint brushes…

    Thanks for your help guys.
