Hi
Last year Our power company (EDF) had a problem in our area when they sent 340 volts instead of 240 resulting in various electrical items burning out. Our insurance company replaced them all as our cover is new for old, two of the items affected were a whirlpool oven and microwave, these two were on standby not being used just the clock showing. Am I right in thinking it will be just a fuse to replace to get them going again.
We do a fair chunk of work for Scottish Power where this is supposed to be the core fault, well that’s what they tell the customer is the reason for the problem anyway.
Usually what has happened is the fault is down the neutral line not the live which causes the PCBs to fry.
Standard fuses protect the live side not the neutral side so it is unlikely that would be the fault, but it would hurt to check.
