    Hello there

I wonder if anyone has had any experience with this issue and can help me.

    I have a Whirlpool Fxvm6 oven. Model number 857720115522 (AKP 201/x)

When using my grill/oven if i adjust the thermostat from a high to low temp my RCD is tripped, for instance when i’m turning it off. If i have the temp set below 200, the RCD trips. Above this temp there are no problems. I use the function selector to turn the oven off rather than the thermostat, this stops the tripping. If i turn on the grill with the door closed, it trips after a few minutes.

My question is then is it the thermostat? It clicks when i turn it on, i’ve read that this means it’s working ok?!
Is it the fan element struggling with the reduction in temp?

    any help would be appreciated

    Gary

There’s not a lot on that oven that I can find but, it could be either the thermostat or the element that’s causing the problem although, usually, I would expect the element to trip the oven at any temperature. It couldn’t be ruled out though.

The only way to find out is to break out the test equipment and try to find out what’s leaking to earth I’m afraid as it doesn’t sound straight forward.

    Thanks K

It’s pretty strange. I can cook with it no problem as long as i stay above the threshold. I’ll need to get someone out i think
