I posted my query on another forum ( http://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums … post171098 ), not realising it was US-based, and was advised to post it on a UK forum, hence me being here. 🙂

Here’s the query once more – thank you for any help you can offer.

When I first got this fridge/freezer, I had no end of problems with it. After repeated costly visits, I basically decided to ‘make do’ with certain parts of the fridge freezer not working, so long as it was working for the main part (ie. keeping things cold or frozen). Sometimes it will click a lot, sometimes we’ll hear water trickling inside yet everything still seems OK… etc.

For a long while now, we’ve been unable to get ice to dispense on the outside of the door, for instance, but we just got around that by fetching the ice from the top, inside the door.

Then the ice maker would stop working for some unknown reason… then, months later, start working again. And so on and so forth. I don’t really know why it seems so temperamental.

Anyway, the ice maker was working until recently but has stopped once more. I’ve tried to work out why but I’m not very DIY-minded. From what I can tell, water just isn’t going in to the ice maker.

Any suggestions on how I might get it to work again, please? The ice maker ‘ice cube’ symbol on the outside is lit. I have tried switching the whole thing off and on again, to see if it would resume making ice (it didn’t). The infrared receiver light inside flashes twice, pauses, flashes twice again, pauses, etc. I think I read somewhere that (for a different model?) this meant an optic problem. If that’s what I need to address, I’m not sure how I go about doing so…

Thanks for any help you can offer.
