My year and a half old machine is displaying CF on the freezer temp display – which I believe means communication failure. So the machine has also stopped working. I checked continuity of connections between main PCB and display was ok.

Called my nearest repair person who is talking £200+ to repair. I suspect the fault lies in the main PCB – can anyone confirm.

If so what is part number and best place to buy board. Or am I better just buying a new fridge freezer – I have never had a fridge freezer fail before – though I probably bought better quality machines in the past.

    Thanks.

CF does mean control failure, and unfortunatly you will need both control boards, and yes, there very expensive.

There really easy to replace, so as long as it is unplugged, it should be a straight forward swap.

I would have it repaired, £200 for a £1000 isnt bad!

is it an LCD display or has it got the green lines for a display?

CF is communication failure. It can be one or both boards at fault or wiring. From previous experience of these appliances it has been the front board at fault. However, it should default to continue working so it looks as though you may be unlucky and have a fault with the rear board as well.

    Thanks all.

Moaned to Whirlpool, who let me take out a one year £56 parts and labour insurance to cover, unfortuantely I cannot get someone out to look at until Thursday.

Will let you know what was replaced.

P.s bought the S20 for £599 from Comet, hence concern at cost of repair v’s what I paid for it.

    Thanks again

    Tom
