S20B RSB21-A/G Went out to this a couple of weeks ago with a build up of ice on the evaporator. Heater ok and the six wire “stat/overload” checked out ok (i presume this is the defrost stat, fan stat and overload cut out).No error on display so just melted all the ice. Of course, ice has now come back. Is there a test for these to see if the defrost kicks in? Anything else to try? Is it the rear board? Any advice would be appreciated.

Switch off at the mains, wait a couple of minutes, switch on again. It should go onto defrost mode before starting up.

Theres a test you can do on the rear module, you measure the resistance of two pins in the plugs that fit to the module, but because I’ve been out of the trade for over a year, I can’t remember which pins or what value of resistance, without actually looking at one.

This test just tells you if everything is OK behind the evap cover, if it is OK, you may be looking at the rear module.

Thanks for all your replies! I went back to this fridge and tried the turn off and back on to see if heater kicked in but nothing. Double checked every thing, again all ok so ive ordered the rear module and hope that cures it.

SPINFAST those readings would be handy if you could send them check your PM 🙂

Just to update this thread for anyone interested, I changed the rear module and it kicked straight into defrost mode and is all working fine. This fridge is only a 2005 model and has the new rear board with the beefed up capacitors etc .
