Hi!
I had a problem with clicking/stuttering a while ago as detailed on http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/fix- … ge-freezer.
I purchased the repair kit here from UK Whitegoods and replaced the main capacitor which totally fixed the clicking/stuttering. Great success. The instructions said to just start with that one capacitor and see if the problem went away (which it did), so I didn’t replace the rest.
However, since then, my fridge is not defrosting. Every 4-5 days, I need to empty the freezer, rip out the back panel and use a blow dryer to defrost it. It also seems that it’s running all the time. It never goes quiet.
When I was replacing that capacitor, I thought I damaged one of the paths on the circuit board, but when I used my ohm-meter, the connection seemed to be OK, so I *think* it’s in good shape, but I can’t really be sure.
Any idea what might be wrong? I’ve tried looking for suggestions online, but all I can find are instructions for refrigerators that have an analog sort of timer for activating the defrost heater thing, which mine doesn’t.
The model number is 8586 158 01020. It came with our house when we bought it in late 2007. I’m not sure how old the fridge is, but I’m guessing a few years older than that.
