Seems to be coming from the motor/fans assy/tension pulleys area. Noise is pretty loud, something like a helicopter but faster.
Can feel three blades broken off on front fan; bits of plastic have been found in condenser pull out unit.
Have sent for exploded diags from W’pool because it looks like a pain to get at that area. S’pose I have to take the drum out ?
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    Mike.

Yes, it will be the fan broken, in some cases the broken bits also break the fan cover so you may need to check that too. The drum does have to come out buts its easy, done from the back. Once out of the way access to the fan and motor is also easy. The fan is an interference fit on the motor and usually has to be broken or cut off and the new fan “tapped” back on.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I’ll be going back there next week and will post again when job done.

Re: Whirlpool t/d AWZ650 vibration noise

Finally got the job done week before last. It had been noisy for 6 months so there was no rush!
Thanks eastlmark, your advice was spot on.(Wish I’d read it more than once!).
Today the customer rang and said that, although they were happy it was so much quieter, they are getting a lot of condensation on the walls of the small room in which the tumble dryer sits. ❓ ❓
    Any ideas please.

No doubt the condenser matrix is clear of fluff, the water container fills up during use and the air intake is not restricted? That should cover the machine’s functions OK 😉

If the problem persists I would suspect the room itself is inadequately ventilated?

    Thanks Martin.
I’ll be going back to have a dekko tomorrow.
    Pretty sure it’s nothing I’ve done. 😉

Nah I would imagine the gasket (donut shaped) on front right of manifold has snapped p/no 481246688523 😉

Re: Whirlpool t/d AWZ650 vibration noise

Went back there today. The thing was running and condensation was apparent on one wall and you could feel the atmosphere like the Amazon.
Still there was plenty of air flow onto the condenser, though not much water in the collector thing.
Anyway it was shut in a small windowless room together with the washer (also running) and a sink and kettle. It’s the staff kitchen at a physiotherapy practice. So,not having seen Greg’s post, I put it down to lack of ventilation. This was easily sorted by opening the door of an adjoining loo and switching on it’s light/extractor fan!
Hope I don’t have to take it apart soon to look for some ‘orrible busted O-ring. Sounds like you’ve been there before Greg?
BTW how do those condenser units remain cool enough to be effective?

You can check the condition of the ‘O’ ring seal without too much dismantling.Just take off the plinth panel and have a poke around the fan housing. The seal is grey foam compound and tends to come apart at the glued joint
Replacement is done with the drum & motor out then ease the new seal into place.
Is there a lot of fluff inside the cabinet? The drum seals can come unglued and let moist air escape.
Easy to fit but expensive at about £30 each 🙁

    Good luck

Thanks Steve. Fortunately no fluff inside cabinet when I did the job. So refreshing when you don’t leave a tumble dryer job covered in dust and with that ominous tickle in your throat. (I use a dust mask sometimes).
Will hang on for a week or two then maybe pop in there when I’m passing if I don’t hear anything.
    Mike.
