ParticipantHey all, I have a Whirlpool top loader which is giving me trouble. I don’t have alot of knowledge with them but here goes. Water is draining, motor is running but drum is not turning. New clutch fitted about a week ago and worked for four washes… back to square one now. The lid switch is gone too and I’m waiting on the spare. I have checked the couplings and they look good. So…. what am I missing??
Thanks in advance.

If clutch and coupling o.k. then prob gearbox. Take the gear box off and remove the top and see if the teeth on the big white plastic cog are worn.

which clutch did you fit?
a) the coupling between the motor and box ( some people call it a clutch
b) the spin clutch on top of the gearbox
if its b did you check for oil leakage from the box as this contaminates clutch and stop spinning

Here I am again!!! I have three of these units with leaking gear boxes! Customers have donated them to me so I am thinking of fixing them and selling them on.So the questions are…. 1. Can the seal be replaced on the gear box ( has anyone tried this?)
2. Price for a new gear box, Checked on sios and they are expensive. Does anyone stock them?
3. Should I just walk away at this stage??? ( I’m not that kinda chap but will look forward to the replies 😆Cheers….

if you get the breakdowns it shows all the parts for the box s0 in theory yes. not tried myself just estimated for new box and fitted
ring asd (0113 393 6680) they are normally reasonably priced but it may be expensive to buy the parts in sterling
if you have the model number off machine and ask asd they will emails diags

Very good, doesn’t look as if the seal on the gearbox is a spare part. Full job.
Thanks for all the help.

Not sure what model you are dealing with but if it is the same gearbox as used on the 3RGSC9455JQ then the part no listed on SIOS for the outer seal at the top of the gearbox is 481946669834 and it is 481946669833 for the inner seal.
Hope that Helps
