been to one of these american style top loaders.
the machine is vibrating badly on spin the bearings and motor clutch are all ok but the whole machine moves about on spin.
I had a look underneath and all the springs are on ok.
the only thing which looks odd is a large triangular metal
plate which doesnt seem to be connected to anything to stop it
    moving about.
    any ideas welcome.

Hiya Suede: Give the guys on http://www.appliancejunk.com a try, they’re normally pretty helpful & know these machines better than we do.

A couple of quick thoughts for you:

    1. Does it do the neutral drain OK? – the motor should turn in the same direction as for spin but the drum and agitator should stay still.

    2. Is the washing evenly distributed? – they don’t do it themselves.

    3. Is the inner drum firm on its shaft?
