    This is not a technical enquiry just an expression of frustration!
    AWZ7813. This is one of two boards behind the fascia and as far as I can gather only available as a combined unit together with the other board and the cheap and nasty plastic into which it is set.
    Would be £128 + VAT from Connect. Tumble dryer (according to customer) about 4 years old. All other parts of dryer in good order, bearings, belt, motor, element etc.
    Machine totally dead. Fault traced to blue transformer in picture below which has an open circuit primary.

    But try finding a replacement for that transformer. Not a hope. Secondaries are 1x24v 0.4VA and 1x12v 2.2VA. Seems impossible to obtain such a thing. All I can find are transformers with both secondaries of equal voltage.
    And a quick Google of the transformer part number BV038-0741.0 reveals I’m not the first to have discovered this by a long stretch. There are several posts in various forums worldwide from people having exactly the same problem with their WHP t/ds. This is another big black mark against Whirlpool in my book.

    😥 Not able to help you other than empathise with you. I’ve had a number of these fail too with the same faulty transformer. exhaustive searching but never found a replacement transformer. Certainly puts me off sellling/suggesting whirlpool. but then there is not a lot you could stake your reputation these days.

    Try another parts supplier as I find connect are sometimes away out on whirlpool pricing.

    maybe there’s a whirlpool agent on here who can help – failing that take a diagnostic fee for you efforts and pass customer to one of the fixed price outfits ..

    Have taken a small fee for my efforts but must admit the idea of the fixed price brigade hadn’t crossed my mind. Would mean I’d have to replace the heater relay on board as I had to destroy it to be able to see the transformer details printed behind it. Wouldn’t they just BER it and charge him a reduced fee?
    Already rang him last night with the bad news and he was poised for a trip to Currys.

    @chippo
    I did find one board very similar via Google @ ~£80 but was different part number.http://www.apart4u.co.uk/tumble-drier-pcb-control-board-whirlpool-opn-481221478645.html (That part no. is £160 trade at Connect incidentally :rolls: .) Maybe I could take out the main board from that one? How would I ever know?

    @Tom
    . If you’ve had several then the black mark I gave Whirlpool was way too small.
