Whirlpool Tumble Dryer Fault

Hi, I have a wirlpool AWZ7913 condensing dryer, I suspect the control board has given up th ghost but I’m hoping you can tell me I’m wrong!

The symptoms are no heat but motor action is fine.

I connected a meter to the heating element supply (before the overheat stats) and when a cycle is started I am getting full mains voltage for ten seconds then I can hear a relay drop out and the supply disappears.

I have already eliminated the NTC in the element and the NTC in the exhaust duct, I have also disconnected the humidity sensor but all to no avail.

The symptoms repeat every time I try it.

Am I right, is it the board or am I missing something?

Update!! Help please!!

As a pure stroke of luck I got given another one of these today, the owner said it worked perfectly until the timer know got broken off.

I fitted the knob from the first one and it has exactly the same symptoms, heater element only powers up for ten seconds.

Completely puzzled I tried it with a damp load of washing and hey presto it works.

Am I losing the plot or are these machines supposed to switch the heater off if the washing is dry even on a timed cycle?

I’ve also found its working when damp clothes are put in it. But you would have thought that a timed dry would heat up whether there are clothes present or not?

Update: The dryer runs, heats up and finishes the cycle. However the clothes are slightly damp at the end of the cycle and not completely dry.
Have removed sensor bar and cleaned all debris from behind it, checked all stats, and thermistor. Still cant get my head around this one !
