Nearly two years old Whirlpool AWM 1403 with 600 and 1400 spin speeds, spinning but not getting the wetness out, washing is still very wet.Does this machine default to the 600 speed for any reason? Where can I obtain a schematic diagram or service manual? Is it belt driven or direct drive? Is there a controller main PCB. Not had the back off yet as it is in a tight fitting enclosure. Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

NB info below was from review forum on the web.

WHIRLPOOL AWM1403 This washing machine does not live up to its expectations. There is a production fault on the machine the drum seals are prone to schreeching as it slows down from a fast spin. I have had to have mine replaced within six months of purchase fault is still occuring. time taken for a full progamme wash is lenghthy and spin cycle does not fully spin clothes almost dry – you have to put back onto spin programme 1 to obtain the dryness required – thus more time is spent washing than necessary. I would not recommend this machine to anyone. Price wise it seemed a bargain but I feel that I will have to purchase another washing machine within the next 18 months

It sounds as if it isn’t draining properly.

Has the filter been checked ? Also check if the drain hose connects to the sink trap as they block with fluff there as well sometimes.

If the water can’t be pumped out quickly enough, the machine simply won’t spin.

Re: Whirlpool washer AWM 1403 Spin problems

Thanks Dave. I checked it over at the weekend, but no blockages, drains ok, no fluff in drainpipe. Its a belt driven motor; re-tensioned the belt but no different. Do you know where I can get a service manual for this machine? I cannot see a controller PCB, so it looks like a tertiary winding on the motor may be switched in to increase to the 1400 spin cycle speed.
NB. The belt is a very skinny affair, nothing like the thickness of my old phillips 949 or the Indesit range.
Any other thoughts on this one?
