Whirlpool Washer / Dryer – washing but not spinning

Hi,

I have a Whirlpool washer / dryer (I’m afraid I don’t know the type right now). It has on occasion become unstable and cut out, on a couple of times also blowing a fuse. Once I’ve replaced the fuse in the past it normally starts working again straight away.

The other day this happened again and although it continued to wash the load it wasn’t spinning. I removed half the clothes leaving a small amount in and tried a short spin but again although the drum is turning it never gets to full speed, hence my clothes came out soaking wet.

If anyone has any suggestions on what this might be I would be grateful. It’s built in and is a bit of a big job to wiggle it out so we plan on pulling it out this weekend to take a closer look, so we’d definitely appreciate some pointers !!!

Hi,

Have you checked that it is pumping out ok and that there are no blockages in the pump.

Remember to pull the power plug out before any investigations 😉

Hi,

Yes I have checked and it’s draining fine.

It’s goes through the entire wash cycle OK (the drum does go round during this process), it just never goes on to the full high speed spin cycle for some reason.

Any other ideas grateful?
