I’ve got a Whirlpool AWM328/3 (code 857032815010), which has just stopped dead in the middle of the wash cycle. Power light is on, but it refuses to reset – though repeated power cycles and holding down the start button occasionally managed to get it to move a single click round towards the STOP position on the cycle, but it sounded like the motor was really struggling when it made any attempt at all. I can turn the toothed wheel behind the control panel by hand easily enough. As it won’t return to the STOP position despite the wheel being free, my guess is the stepper motor on the timer or the stepper control have given up – does this sound believable?

The timer module’s labelled EC4475.01G14. I can get an EC4475.01F11. Any idea if this part is compatible?

    Cheers,
    Andy.

Look at the motor brushes – they are probably worn out. The timer would not necessarily be at fault; but do not try to push the timer round by hand, it will damage the internal drive gears and cams. It also proves nothing, as you have found. 😉

Power off before any inspection. :plug:

Sorry, I’ve just reread my post and realised I wasn’t at all clear. It’s the stepper motor on the timer that wasn’t turning well or mostly at all. I’ve just been round the machine checking door switches etc and everything looks okay. Haven’t checked the main motor (other than for approx resistance of the windings from the controller end). Found a couple of tracks on the door switch connections on the control PCB starting to lift off the board, but bypassing them made no difference.

    Cheers,
    Andy.
