Whirlpool washer will not spin

Whirlpool AWM 8163 serial number 31 0149 821634.

My Whirlpool washer runs through the wash cycle fine until it hits the spin
part and then brings up “F P” error code. I have recently refitted a replacement pump with no problems. The unit will drain when selected manually but is very temperamental. My wife says it works ok for a few washes but will come up with this error on a heavy load.
The only thing i havent checked is the filter that is fitted inside the
waste outlet pipe. Could this be the problem?

Any ideas?

There is no filter in the waste hose, the filter is part of the drain pump you have already replaced behind the circular flap lower right on the machine 😉

FP is a drain error so it’s likely there is a blockage somewhere as the pump has been replaced.

Power off when checking :zap:

Hi, could possibly be the brushes on the motor wearing out. If the appliance drains the water out okay but gives no motor action on a spin programme(especially when loaded with washing) the brushes are often the cause. Not sure what the fault code indicates

you could check for 5p peices in drain hose to sink/stand pipe , as it will act like a valve intermitanly and stop the water from draining.

Tip remove drain hose and get small 10mm socket and drop down tube.
