ParticipantMy Whirlpool washer recently got bunged up with coins and caused a malfunction when draining (showed the FP error). I cleared the blockage from the filter and ran the wash again but this time the machine will not complete the wash cycle and continues to show the FP error. I have pretty much cleaned every hose in the machine, flushed them and checked the outside waste to ensure nothing else is causing this error but all seems fine. The machine continues to stop mid cycle. I can move the cylce onto the next phase by moving the selection knob but it will not finish properly. I am now stumped. If anyone out there in Whitegoods land can help me I would very much appreciate it.
Thanks,

If you set it to spin only will it drain/ finish cycle.

Simon,
The spin will finish but it won’t drain unless I turn the selector knob and make it do it. However it takes a few goes before it happens. The FP error will show a couple of times, then it will complete the selection.
Thanks,

It sounds like the pump is becoming intermittent. This is often accompanied by a “burring” noise, when the pump does run. It’s not unlike (but not as loud as) a drill on hammer action. If this is the case replacement is your only option.
Alternatively, there may still be some foreign body in the pump chamber – skinny elastic bands round the shaft under the impellor are a swine to spot (and get rid of).
This what you want if you are going to replace it:

Thanks for the update. I think the logical next step is to replace the pump unit as you described. I have ordered it today. Hopefully it will be an easy task to remove the old one and install the new one.
Thanks again for your help. I will post an update when the item arrives and I have tested it.
Cheers,

Received the new pump on Christmas Eve. Installed it today.
However the problem was still there. I now think I have found the root cause of the error message on the machine. After clearing the coins from the filter, I put the machine back with the water outlet hose placed too far down the waste pipe. This was causing the machine to fail when draining.
The new pump works fine and I guess I will keep the old one just in case.
Lesson learned. I think?!?All the best
