I’m thinking of buying a 10kg Whirlpool washing machine with direct drive (Model FSCR10431), and wondered whether the latest Whirlpool machines are reliable, particularly the direct drive models. My other option is a Samsung Eco Bubble WF80F5E5U4X, which is approx the same price, so would also appreciate any comments from owners of this machine, or advice on which is likely to be the most reliable.

Anything new that has any failings at all only show up once you’ve bought it. Direct drive is a caution as LG pioneered it years ago. It works true enough but when the drum bearings fail so does the motor directly behind! Samsung? I’ve no clue but they feature on here a lot when owners seek help.

There are plenty of people complaining about Whirlpool, but also plenty complaining about all other brands, including Miele. It seems owners are far more likely to review their appliance if it’s rubbish, than they are if it’s brilliant.
